It’s March, which means spring weather is coming in hawttt, and it’s time to refresh the wardrobe! My favorite time of year, tbh.
Below we have 16 pieces to help refresh your spring capsule wardrobe for 2025, including 6 tops, 4 bottoms, 3 shoes, and 3 accessories. But first, let’s recap what exactly the goal of a capsule wardrobe is.
What Is a Capsule Wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is a principle of minimalists that basically means you don’t own clothing you don’t love to wear. And I mean love. The goal of a capsule wardrobe is a closet full of items that make you feel amazing and you could wear over and over again.
How to Create the Perfect Capsule Wardrobe
Every capsule wardrobe needs a set of basic items that you’ll wear all year long. You should love these pieces. Below is a checklist of roughly what your wardrobe should contain.

If you’re trying to decide what goes in your capsule wardrobe, for each item in your closet pinpoint which of the following categories it belongs in:
1. Love It. I’d Wear It Everyday If I Could.
Hooray! These are the qualities of classic capsule wardrobe staples. These items stay in the closet.
2. I Like It But.
Items that you like but fill-in-the-blank [don’t fit great, don’t love how you feel in it, doesn’t match your personal style] should be moved to a storage bin. Put the storage bin in a corner of your house and forget about it. After a year, if you haven’t thought about or gone back for any of those “like it but” items, it’s time to donate them.
3. I Can’t Remember The Last Time I Wore This.
In most cases, clothing you can’t remember wearing last should probably not get prime real estate in your closet. For most of these items, you’ll do the same thing with them as the category 2 items – put them in the storage container and see if you miss them after a year. Otherwise, it’s donation material.
However, there is a caveat to this category. For certain things like wedding guest dresses or other formal wear, certain kinds of business attire, swimsuits, vacation clothes, and other clothing that fits a more “special occasions” category, I would suggest putting in a different storage bin or closet. These are items you still like wearing, you just don’t have many opportunities to wear.
4. I Only Wear This During Winter/Summer
Seasonal items like warm leggings, heavy sweaters, swim suits, or jean shorts get their own storage container. When the weather turns, you can do a little closet refresh and try things on to make sure you still love them, that they still fit, and that you feel confident in them.
Okay, let’s get into the 2025 Spring Capsule Wardrobe!

Tops
Every wardrobe has to have one. This one from Uniqlo hits the waist at the perfect point, is 100% soft cotton, and doesn’t break the bank (because let’s be honest, who can keep a white T-shirt stain free for years on end?)

OMG, isn’t this cardigan simply to die for? So cute. So classy. So spring-like. Obsessed.

The perfect layering piece, this button-down can be worn alone with dress pants and a belt for a perfect office look or dressed down over a t-shirt and jeans for weekend wear. I love the dark pink color for being spring-like yet still moody enough for those rainy days.

This denim jacket is giving day at the stables vibes, which I just love. Pair with the rain boots below and you’ll look like an adventurous outdoorsy type for braving the rain to go to your favorite coffee shop.

This cardigan is sweet and simple. I love a button down cardigan because it can be worn as a top, like pictured below, or over another top, making it the perfectly versatile item for a capsule wardrobe.

Every spring capsule wardrobe needs an oversized sweater. The stripes on this one give it some interest and dimension, making it more of a statement piece than a monochromatic sweater.

Bottoms
A straight leg, dark-wash jean never goes out of style. Ever. Perfect for wet days when you get a little damp. In dark jeans, who can tell? Not me.

This linen pant is for those sunny spring days where you can feel summer hiding around the corner. Comfortable, breezy, yet the pleats give them an elevated look.

Dark brown is an in-season color this spring. Though I try not to buy into too many trends for my capsule wardrobe, I absolutely love this wide-leg mocha pant to have a little fun with something a little different and a style that can be dressed up or down.

Move over skirts, it’s all about skorts!! Honestly, when you can wear this cute little skort, why would you ever where a mini skirt where you spend half the time worrying you’re going to have to bend over and flash people in the process? Skorts = the superior skirt.

Shoes
You have to have a neutral sneaker, and I love this fresh vibe from Nike. Simple, classic, timeless. Just screams Spring, doesn’t it?

Ugh, I’m such a sucker for a Mary Jane. But I refuse to wear an uncomfortable flat, which is why I’m a diehard for Rothys. Plus, because they’re machine washable, you don’t have to worry about the occasional puddle.

A rain boot that doubles as a super cute Chelsea boot is all I want to wear on rainy spring days. I love that this boot can be worn with straight, wide, or skinny jeans and look good with all of them.

Accessories
A neutral-colored shoulder bag that will transition so easily from rainy days shopping at bookstores or the sports bar to watch March Madness to warmer days drinking iced coffee on patios.

You need a raincoat in spring. It’s just a must. This neutral one has some nice detailing elements like the shiny liner and cuffed sleeves.

To class up any outfit, my favorite way is to add a bit of bling, preferably as a hoop. These Tiffany hoops show that even in sweatpants, you’re a person who is always a little classy.
